Our experts are experienced advising on the purchase of forestry assets, the establishment of joint ventures, planning and environmental applications, forestry management agreements and wood sales, and cutting rights. We also advise on related matters such as licences and leases, roading and access agreements, corporate, securities, tax and overseas investment, property, and resource management.

We have acted on every major forestry transaction in the last two decades. Clients include two out of three of the largest forestry companies in New Zealand - Fletcher Challenge Forests Ltd and Rayonier New Zealand Ltd, a subsidiary of US Forestry company Rayonier, Inc.

In the fisheries sector, our experienced team advises on the Fisheries Act, its enforcement, forfeiture, and quota holding structures. We also advise on aquaculture issues and fishing infrastructure. We have specific expertise in Maori fisheries issues, iwi fishing companies and joint ventures, and issues affecting the exclusive economic zone, including the Oceans Policy.
