David is a financing specialist, including acquisition finance, asset finance, project finance, insolvency and debt restructurings. He has acted on a range of acquisition financings, including the acquisition of MediaWorks by Ironbridge Capital, the acquisition of Tegel and Griffins by Pacific Equity Partners, and the acquisition of Burger King New Zealand by The Blackstone Group. David has also acted for the borrower on the restructure of Yellow Pages Group and the restructure of MediaWorks, two of the largest debt restructures undertaken in the New Zealand market in recent years.
He also has specialist expertise in cross-border and domestic asset leasing, having acted on numerous leasing transactions including Japanese, German and US leveraged and operating lease structures, defeasance leasing transactions and export credit structures.
Asia Pacific Legal 500 2010, 2011 and 2012 lists David as a leading individual in banking and finance, describing him as "highly rated for his commercial and legal skills". He is also identified in IFLR1000 2011 as a leading banking and finance and capital markets lawyer, and is noted in the 2012 edition as a leading lawyer in banking and project finance and insolvency and restructuring.
Chambers Global 2011 says David is "particularly active in asset finance" and is described as "one of the best lawyers we have worked with in the finance sector."
David is also recognised by Who's Who Legal 2011 and the Guide to the World's Leading Aviation Lawyers for his work in the aviation sector.
