New year brings new appointments at Bell Gully

Bell Gully has announced a number of new appointments, with effect from 1 January 2012.

Tim Clarke, has been appointed a partner in Bell Gully's employment team. Bell Gully chairman Roger Partridge said "Tim is an outstanding new addition to our partnership. His appointment recognises both his commitment and success in representing our clients and his extensive litigation and employment experience and expertise. We are delighted to welcome him into the partnership."


Based in Auckland, Tim joined Bell Gully in 2006 after spending time working in Hong Kong with Baker & McKenzie and in the British Virgin Islands with Harney Westwood & Riegels.

Tim is a highly experienced litigator specialising in employment and commercial disputes, including disciplinary and personal grievance hearings, restraints of trade, restructuring, all aspects of relationships between employers and unions, and Privacy Act and Human Rights Act issues.

In addition to Tim's appointment, Bell Gully has appointed four new senior associates. Roger Partridge said "these appointments recognise the extensive expertise and experience of each of the new senior associates, and their all-round achievements and commitment to our clients and to the firm."

The new senior associates are:


Mark Cunliffe (Corporate)

Mark is a corporate lawyer, advises on capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, other corporate transactions, commercial contracts and joint ventures with a focus on the energy sector.

Mark joined Bell Gully in 2011, after practising in London, where he worked for a boutique city corporate law firm.

Belinda Green (Property)

Belinda is an experienced commercial property lawyer who first joined Bell Gully in 2004. She then spent three years practising overseas before returning in 2010.


Graham Murray (Tax)

Graham has been a member of the Bell Gully tax division since 2005, and advises New Zealand and offshore clients on all aspects of New Zealand tax law.

He has expertise in advising on the taxation aspects of funds management, PIE investment schemes and corporate income tax. He has a particular interest in the taxation aspects of limited partnership and look through company investments.

Jesse Wilson (Litigation)

Jesse is a commercial litigator with experience in company and securities law disputes. He began his career with Bell Gully in 2006, after clerking at the Court of Appeal. He rejoined Bell Gully in 2009 after completing his Master of Laws at Stanford Law School.
