What is RSS?

Real Simple Syndication (RSS) is a way for you to get the latest information from the Bell Gully site direct to your computer or Blackberry. When we have added new content to our site that is of particular interest to you an RSS feed allows you to access it in a convenient way. Once you subscribe to RSS, feeds will be sent containing the item heading, a summary and a link to the full content. It is easy to set up and is designed to allow you to tailor the information you receive. You just need to click on the RSS feed icons that appear on content pages.

How do I use RSS?

You will require an RSS reader, software that is readily available and performs the task of checking your feeds and reading new content as it is added to pages you wish to read. You can download a desktop reader which allows you to store it on your main computer or you can set up a browser-based news reader which will mean you can access your feeds from any computer without the need to download software separately. There are a variety of sources for RSS readers and some common ones include:

Getting started with a Bell Gully RSS feed

Once you have a reader, you can decide which topics or practice areas on which you would like to receive content updates. To set up the feed you can do one of the following:

  • Click on the RSS icon on the page you are viewing. If you have Internet Explorer 7.0 or Firefox 1.0 and above, it will automatically add the feed to your reader.
  • If you have an earlier version of Internet Explorer, you will be taken to a new page. Cut and paste the url of that page into your feed reader. Your reader will tell you how to save it and then you will be enabled for that feed.
  • Alternatively, look on our pages for the heading: "Subscribe to this RSS feed". Click on the link headed "view RSS feeds" and it will take you to a page which contains a menu of the various feeds you can receive. Make your selection and click on RSS. This will give you a url which you can copy into your RSS reader.
